Our lives became busier by the minute. Meetings, work, social commitments, not to mention the numerous digital distractions, can really eat up our schedule.

My own calendar is filled with plenty of daily routine tasks, such as doing the laundry and cleaning my place. I can take quite a chunk of my time. Recently, I realized that the energy I devote to these activities could have been used for better things, like rest or organizing my work for the next day to take my career to the next level.

Fortunately, I also live at a time when technology can outsource some of my activities to focus on more meaningful tasks. Here are five routine activities I recommend to outsource in able to have more time
and energy:

1. Weekly grocery shopping

Everybody needs a balanced and healthy meal to get through their everyday lives, but driving all the way and picking up fresh ingredients from the grocery can be time-consuming. However, striking a balance between keeping a healthy diet and saving time from grocery-shopping is possible.

To help me out in this task, I use InstaCart to deliver groceries to my doorstep. As a writer, it’s very important not to break the thought process especially when I’m in the mood. Running to the grocery can take on a toll on my creative juices. With the help of InstaCart, I can simply order the groceries I need online, schedule the delivery, and pick them up when the delivery man rings. Simple, easy, and doesn’t take up too much of my time.

2. Driving to work

Whenever I do my research, commuting can be long and difficult. It can be exhausting during crowded moments, while traveling from one city to another. On the other hand, driving my own car requires me to think about gas, parking, and other troubles of car ownership. It can be equally draining.

Thank heavens for Uber, as I can simply use this app to book my cab and saves me the time, money, and hassle of getting to work or going anywhere for that matter. It holds all the luxuries of car ownership without the added worries. I have the added security of knowing both the license number and the cab driver. It can’t be better than that.

3. Proofreading written material

This one is very important for writers.

We must compose a content, 24/7. Alas, quality could be as difficult as coming up with a draft. This is how the writing process goes, from writing to proofreading, and this solitary job is hard to keep it up.

Thankfully, there are EduGeeksClub writing service to help me out with my process. Once done with my articles, I can contact their professional editors and proofreaders to get a fresh perspective on my work. Their insightful comments also help me improve my craft and deliver better quality of work to my clients.

4. Polishing administrative, technical, or creative details at work

Doing everything on your own can be overwhelming especially when you’re starting your own business. This is why collaborative sites like Fiverr and Upwork can give professionals the opportunity to work with others who can help them with their ongoing projects.

This is a win-win for both parties, as I can get the help I need to get things done, and the freelancers get to do something they love. In fact, Fiverr and Upwork let me find freelancers from various industries.

I’ve hired a virtual assistant to help me out arranging my schedule, contacts, and deadlines so that I can focus on expanding my client base and in writing the copies that would best suit my clients’ needs. My next project is to hire graphic artists to contextualize and make my work visually appealing.

Since these sites are on a pay-per-project initiative, it’s handy, helpful, and cost efficient.

5. Cleaning up

Some people have a penchant for keeping their houses tidy all the time. Spring cleaning aside, I find that I don’t always have the time to always clean up especially when my deadlines are looming over me. At the same time, I dislike an untidy room and house, and watching the dishes pile up on the sink can get distressing and does not help me get any work done.

Good thing that there are home services like Handy which can be my go-to savior. Like other home cleaning services, all I have to do is book a time and let Handy do the rest. It’s not just for home cleaning; if a leaky faucet at home is giving me trouble or I need someone to assemble Ikea for me, Handy also sends over handymen to do the work. I can sit back and relax.

6. Doing the laundry

Ever since I was in a kid, I’ve never really been the domesticated type. One of the chores that I do not like to do is washing clothes. As an adult, I have no other recourse but to get this done otherwise, I will have to go to meeting dressed in casual wear or worse, in my pj’s. Good thing there’s FlyCleaners.

With this app, I simply confirm the schedule of my laundry pick-up, have the FlyGuy come to my doorstep, deliver my laundry to their partner facilities, and let FlyCleaners do their magic. They even have an overnight laundry, so that the Wash and Fold orders I had picked up by 11PM can be delivered after 7AM the next day. Now, that is what I call convenience.

7. Walking the dog

I love my dog, Coco. The thing is, with my busy schedule and the tons of deadlines I have to meet, I spend less and less time with her. This makes me feel guilty most of the time. Enter Wag!, an on-demand
dog walking service.

What I love about it is that I had the option to meet my dog walker before availing of the service. This way, I got to know her first and had full trust and confidence that she will take care of my Coco. Best of all, Wag! App has a GPS tracker so I can monitor where they are at and even have an activity report delivered right in my smartphone.

The Takeaway: Outsource Your Resource

Optimizing your work schedule involves clearing out a few extra tasks from your day-to-day. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to put them off far longer than you should. There are so many avenues for you
to be able to get everything done. There won’t be any compromising.

Outsourcing some of your tasks is a great help to clearing out some miscellaneous activities. Make the most out of your working potential by collaborating with others. You’ll be surprised by what you can accomplish.
