You can See Sense
Once you realize how something fits together and makes sense, you say you see sense. And you actually do, you get the picture. You know it stands to reason since it has the ring of truth.

When you get the picture, your context suddenly expands and that enlarged knowing brings an aha sense of satisfaction. Its authenticity gives you an experience of relief by reducing falsehood. Knowing when it’s real will change your life, since reality brings the joy of knowing the truth.

Your efforts show you how things fit together. This doesn’t mean that wider questions may not arise, but for now, many of the current ones are answered. This is because seeing what is real is to lessen doubt, reality does fit together.

Believing is not Seeing Sense
There’s no sense in just believing someone’s word, that’s spurious rather than genuine knowledge. The secret of success to invest the time and energy to think it through for yourself. Then you enjoy the reward of rational thought, you see sense.

The second-hand knowing which comes from superficial understanding is also different. That easy path requires no serious thought and won’t change your life. Without investigating for yourself how can you ever become truly convinced? You need to invest your energy to know the truth for yourself.

Mandela’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission
After his release from prison in 1990, Nelson Mandela, the former South African President, set up the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Its task was to bring the truth about the atrocities of apartheid to light and provide amnesty to those who gave full disclosure. Knowing the truth brought relief and closure to those seeking reconciliation rather than retribution.

Conclusions are Tentative
There may appear to be contradictions in nature, but reality doesn’t contradict itself. Such conflicts are a figment of your imagination arising from incomplete knowledge. You imagine you see a contradiction but you simply don’t have all the facts. Since you don’t have 360º vision, perfect recall, and complete awareness, what else but arrogance could make you think you see the full and complete picture?

Yet, whether or not you were actually there, once you’ve put enough time and energy into authentic investigation, you can change your life with a tentative conclusion about the truth of the matter.

The conclusion is tentative because your investigation is incomplete. You know what you know so far, but this secret of success is to realize you don’t know what you don’t know. And what you’re missing may alter the conclusion you have reached.

Complete knowledge of context, for example, would include the history of all contributions to the matter. There are intangibles such as intention, value judgements, presumptions, and motives of all those contributors. Etc. So, no matter how thoroughly you investigate, your conclusion may need to be modified later by unconsidered factors which come to your attention.

There’s a sense of satisfaction once you’ve investigated and come to such a conclusion. The joy in knowing the truth takes you towards peace, love, calm in the long-term.
